Dr. Khalid Al-Sulaiman Holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (Thermal Sciences) from the University of California, Santa Barbara. His M.S and B.S degrees are from the University of Wisconsin also in Mechanical Engineering.

His experience and accomplishments, especially in the fields of Technology and Energy, are both vast and impressive. He has assumed many leading national positions. He began his career in 1988 when he joined the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology ( KACST ). In 1989 he was appointed Director of The Atomic Energy Research Institute at KACST. He served in this position for over ten years. In 2000 he directed the Technology Development Center at KACST for three years. From 2000 to 2005 he headed “The National Long Term Science and Technology Plan” Task Force. The plan has been nationally approved and its programs continue to be funded.

In 2005, he was appointed Deputy Minister for Industry at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry where he lead the development of The National Industrial Strategy 2020. He served as deputy minister until a Royal Decree in April 2010 named him Vice President for Renewable Energy at the newly established Kind Abdullah City for Atomic & Renewable Energy (K.A.CARE). He served in that capacity until March 2014.

Dr. Khalid has published two books and over 30 articles in refereed international journals.
