Holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (Thermal Sciences) from the University of California, Santa Barbara (1987), an M.S and a B.S also in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin (1982 and 1980).

His experience and accomplishments, especially in the fields of Technology and Energy, is both vast and impressive. He has assumed many leading national positions. He began his career in 1988 when he joined the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology ( KACST ).In 1989 he was appointed Director of The Atomic Energy Research Institute at KACST. He served in this positionfor over ten years. In 2000he directed the Technology Development Center at KACST for three years. From 2000 to 2005he headed “The National Long Term Science and Technology Plan” Task Force. The plan has been nationally approved and its programs continue to be funded.

In 2005he was appointed Deputy Minister for Industry at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry where he led the development of The National Industrial Strategy 2020. He served as deputy minister until a Royal Decree in April 2010 named him Vice President for Renewable Energy at the newly established King Abdullah City for Atomic & Renewable Energy (K.A.CARE). He served in that capacity until March 2014

He actively served as board member of many organizations, including:

He is currently:
