Basel is the Deputy VP for Development Affairs at Saudi Binladen Group, where he looks after local/international alliances and new and investment initiatives. He was the CEO of Mohammed and Abdullah Al Subeaei Investment Co. (MASIC), a family investment office based in Riyadh with local, regional and international investments in different Asset Classes. He was responsible for the formulation of investment strategy, screening all investment opportunities and represent MASIC at various boards/investment committees.

Prior to that, Basel was the President of Interactive Saudi Arabia Ltd., a Raytheon/Thales-owned Economic Offset Program Company specialized in IT and Defense Projects. From 2002 to 2003, he was the CEO of Malaz Technology Investment Co., a Riyadh-based ICT venture capital investment firm covering the MENA region. Before that, he was Secretary General of the E-Commerce National Task Force at the Ministry of Commerce from 1998 to 2002. Earlier, Basel worked as the Deputy Director General of the International Organizations Department at the Ministry of Commerce. At this position, he was covering the works of five international organizations and a member of the negotiating team for the accession of Saudi Arabia to the World Trade Organization (WTO). He also represented the Ministry of Commerce as a delegate or head of delegation at several international events.

Basel holds an MBA from the University of Detroit, USA and Bachelor of Marketing from King Saud University in Riyadh. He is on the Boards of several local and regional companies. Basel has attended many international conferences and executive programs at Harvard, MIT and LBS.
